Antioxidants are a class of nutrients found in foodstuff that are identified to prevent or slow the effects of oxidative injury in our bodies. Processes inside our bodies that utilize oxygen cause oxidative damage. While oxygen is compulsory for life when our bodies cells use oxygen free radicals are produced. Free radicals are a molecule that is lacking one or more electrons. Free radicals are vastly unstable and can cause many problems within our bodies.

Acai berries are grown in Central and South America on the acai palm tree. They yeild about two crops each year. The acai berry appears a lot like a grape in size and color except that the color is darker. They grow in clusters of three to five berries. Acai berry is a great source of antioxidants.
